Keys to successful brand experience
March 23, 2011
The most successful brands are those that seem “irresistible”. This is a key part of the marketing and brand experience strategy and obviously a major goal. Afterall, if a client is looking to promote their brand they want it to be more attractive than any other brand in that market.
Going back to basic, let’s start with a common understanding by asking a simple question: What is a brand? Branding is most typically associated with marketing concepts such as trademarks and logos. But that’s not the whole story.
How does it feel?: A brand needs to appeal to the emotions of the potential consumers. So a brand experience should consider such factors as image and, what you might call, personality.
A good example of thinking about the “feel” or “personality” of a brand is to imagine how you might feel when meeting a new person for the first time? Do you like how they come across to you. Do you like what they seem to be saying and represent? This should be the same for a brand experience.
Something different: A successful brand needs to be able to compete for consumers, and to do that it needs to offer something different from the rival brands. In other words, what is the brand’s Unique Selling Point? USP might seem to be an over-used phrase but it is an important focus for a client to understand how to differentiate their brand from a competitor’s and to understand how to create a brand that is different and attractive to more consumers.
Don’t let the consumer down: It might seem obvious to say, but if a brand promises to deliver a service or product then it really must. That is, the brand should offer 100% customer satisfaction. There really is little point in promising the consumer something but then being able to deliver. So, however tempting it might be to try to offer “something different” or better than a rival brand, only do so if you really can deliver.
Gain a good reputation: Top brands earn their reputation by engaging customers. Branding embraces the above factors such as “something different” and 100% consumer satisfaction but they also need to stand out in today’s very competitive market place. If a brand/company can offer a unique benefit that makes the rival brand/s seem less attractive then they will win the greater engagement and approval of more consumers.
